WENDY LEIGH CURTIS

Wendy Leigh Curtis

About Wendy…

Wendy was born a Georgia Peach in the city of Atlanta of which she remembers little, save for the taste of boiled peanuts and sweet tea. Family winds blew her from Florida to Ohio, where she decided at a young age she wanted to be an artist.

She moved to New York City in 2001 and has been a Jane of all trades, working to balance art, community, learning, and teaching.

Wendy holds a M.A. in Art Education K-12 and a B.A. in Painting with Honors. Her studio space is filled with dried flowers, fruits, found objects, and gifts she seeks to investigate how things fall or change from a seemingly fixed state into something else altogether. Wendy is interested in the relation between all stages of life passing, which is not the same as life ending. She has always gravitated towards figurative elements, which is reflected in her works both in scale and modeling. Although some of these works are a personal meditation, she hopes that they, along with the more politically/socially-involved work, create a space for interaction with the viewer.
